What is sourdough?
Sourdough bread is a naturally leavened bread, it does NOT use commercial yeast to rise.
A "starter" is used which is made up of fermented flour and water that contains wild yeast and good bacteria. Wild yeast has much more flavour than commercial yeast and does not contain additives!
It is a prebiotic-rich food that is more digestible than your standard white bread. It also has a lower glycemic index and less gluten than normal bread.
According to some research sourdough-leavened wholemeal bread can help a person lose excess weight!!
